Leg Muscles
Our leg muscles are used to walk, run, squat, jump, skip, etc. Many of us spend hours a day working and playing on our feet, using our legs to get from one place to another. These three machines have helped me to develop stronger muscles in my legs, while having good techniques.
Major Muscles Worked for Legs, and the Machines' Weight Ranges
The machines targeting the legs work the major muscles called the glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, and calves. The weight range on the machines start from either 10 to 20 lbs, and goes up to just over 300 lbs. You can increase and/or decrease the weight in 5lb increments.
Reps and Sets? What Do Those Words Mean When Exercising?
When you begin weight training, you may be guided on the number of reps and sets to do for each exercise you perform. A repetition is the full execution of one exercise. For example, when doing bicep curls, lifting the weight up from the static position, and then bringing the weight back down to the original static position is one repetition. A set is the number of times you perform that repetition without pausing. When you hear someone say do 3 sets of 15 reps each, they are executing the exercise 45 times, with small breaks after every 15 reps, for a total of 3 sets completed.
